Tesla updates Models X & S and raises prices in the USA

Tesla has revised its Model S and Model X for the US market and is now charging 5,000 dollars more for the models. The range has improved for both models, however the top speed has lowered in exchange.

As Tesla wrote on social media, the biggest update for the new models is that the Model S Long Range can now reach a total of 410 miles of range. A new paint tone is also available with ‘Frost Blue’, among a few other cosmetic updates.

Social media users were quick to complain about this, as the screenshot below shows. While a more effective Active Noise Cancellation system likely makes an impact on the driving experience, the updated price tag has not impressed drivers. The AWD variant of the Model X now starts at $89,990, while its plaid variant is priced at $104,990. The Model S all-wheel drive now costs $84,990, and its plaid variant is $99,990.

Upgrading the vehicle’s range has cost the vehicle in terms of acceleration, and the Model S Plaid now has a 149 miles per hour top speed, down from a previous 200 mph. Its range increased from 348 miles to 368 miles. Insideevs even speculates that the changes may have a different reasoning, as it “makes their more affordable counterparts–the Model 3 and Model Y–even more attractive to prospective buyers.”
