VinFast & Plugsurfing launch charging partnership

VinFast has entered into a partnership with Plugsurfing to give its customers access to more than one million charging points in Europe. The previous charging cards from the Vietnamese manufacturer will be replaced by new one, because the previous partner Bosch has discontinued its service.

Just over a year ago, VinFast entered into such a partnership with Bosch for the European market. Drivers were to be able to find charging stations, start the charging process and pay using the charging card, the VinFast app or directly in the infotainment system. A few months later, however, Bosch announced that it would be discontinuing its own charging service at the end of the first quarter of 2025. Since 1 April, customers have no longer been able to log in, charge, pay or access their data. This has also affected VinFast and its customers.

However, the Vietnamese manufacturer has now announced a new charging partner, Plugsurfing. VinFast customers will now have access to more than one million public charging points in 24 European countries. In VinFast’s most important markets, Germany, France and the Netherlands, the network alone comprises over 550,000 charging points.

As part of the agreement, VinFast customers will also receive new charging cards free of charge. “To ensure continuity and maintain all accumulated benefits, the charging history and account balances will be transferred and remain unchanged,” the car manufacturer announced. The previous charging cards will therefore be replaced by new ones. The charging history and account balance will also be transferred to the new cards. And access to the Plugsurfing charging network will also be possible via the VinFast app in future.

“Plugsurfing is continuously developing its network to provide a more reliable and accessible charging experience, while actively supporting VinFast’s expansion across the continent,” says Sofia Diakhate, COO of Plugsurfing. “By partnering with Plugsurfing, we are not only expanding our charging network, but also improving the convenience and overall experience for our customers, further accelerating the transition to electric vehicles in Europe,” adds Le Ngoc Chi, CEO of VinFast Europe.

VinFast currently sells two electric vehicle models in Europe: the VF 6 (B-segment) and the VF 8 (D-segment). “An attractive product range is currently being developed for the European market,” the Vietnamese company explained. The manufacturer is also currently looking to expand its dealer and distribution network throughout Europe, as well as its aftersales network with service providers such as ATU (Germany), Norauto (France), LKQ (Netherlands) and Fixico. In addition to Europe, VinFast is also expanding its global presence in markets such as Indonesia, the Philippines, India, the Middle East and North America.
