Helsinki-based Virta has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Northe, regarded as the Scandinavian market leader in advanced EV fleet management software and services for leasing companies and other large fleet operators. According to Virta, Northe’s fleet software will complement its existing portfolio. As mentioned above, the combined company will form the largest B2B EV driver platform in the Nordics, already serving well over 100,000 active EV drivers.

Northe, founded in Sweden as Charge4go AB, has expanded rapidly across Scandinavia, with customers including some of the region’s largest leasing firms and fleet operators. Its software platform focuses on advanced EV fleet management, reporting and operational services designed to reduce costs and improve transparency for large vehicle portfolios.

Fleets are currently the fastest-growing segment of electric mobility in Europe, Virta notes, adding that company-registered vehicles, including benefit cars and operational fleets, account for around 60 per cent of new EV sales in the EU. “This growth is driven by the economic viability of electric fleets, as well as companies’ decarbonisation targets,” the company stated in its press release.

As adoption accelerates, the optimisation of charging, fleet costs, and operational management is becoming central to businesses scaling up electric mobility.

Ilkka Vanhanen, Chief Revenue Officer at Virta, said Northe’s platform “is among the most advanced and future-proof solutions available.” He added: “By combining it with Virta’s market-leading charging business management, energy management and Virtual Power Plant platform, we are introducing a solution with unprecedented comprehensiveness, seamlessness and cost-effectiveness for leasing companies, rental car firms, and corporate and light commercial vehicle stakeholders.”

David Fauné, co-founder and CEO of Northe, said the acquisition opens new growth opportunities beyond the Nordic region. “Virta’s strong presence and extensive customer base in key EV markets across Europe now provide a fast track for scaling Northe’s technology beyond Sweden, Denmark and Norway, where we have quickly earned the trust of the largest leasing companies and fleet operators,” he explained. He added that for existing partners and customers, the deal “will lead to a stronger Northe with more resources, a stronger public charging network and sharper focus to deliver on all current and future challenges they are facing.”
