VinFast to debut electric buses at Busworld Europe 2025

Vietnamese EV manufacturer VinFast will unveil its first electric bus models in Europe at Busworld 2025 in Brussels this October. The EB 8 and EB 12 are designed to meet EU standards, with ranges of up to 400 km. The launch marks VinFast’s entry into the European public transport market.

According to the manufacturer, the EB 12 is fully homologated to UNECE and CE regulations. The model was specifically designed for European operations, taking into account local regulations and infrastructure. Both buses are equipped with LFP battery packs from “trusted global leaders such as CATL and Gotion,” with capacities of up to 422 kWh. VinFast says the buses deliver “a real-world range of up to 400 km.” The vehicles can be charged at up to 140 kW, allowing the battery to be replenished in two to three hours.

VinFast yet to provide any further details on the two models, such as passenger capacity and dimensions. The details are expected to be revealed at the premiere at Busworld. Based on the press photo and the names, the EB 12 appears to be a twelve-metre solo bus, which means that the EB 8 is likely to be an eight-metre midibus.

Alongside the electric buses, VinFast will present its strategy for entering the European public transport market. The company stated that it will focus on partnerships with European specialists and suppliers in the transportation and infrastructure sectors. This approach is said to mirror the rollout of its electric SUV portfolio, which already includes the VF 6 and VF 8 models in Europe.

“Europe shares VinFast’s vision of a green and sustainable future, and the launch of our VinFast electric bus models at Busworld is a strong statement of VinFast’s long-term commitment to the region,” said Le Thi Thu Thuy, Chairwoman of VinFast.

“Beyond individual electric cars, we are building a comprehensive green transformation ecosystem to make electrified transport more accessible than ever,” she added. “With an increasingly diverse product range, we are confident we can contribute to creating a zero-emission transport system and a cleaner, greener life for Europeans.”

VinFast emphasised that its European expansion aligns with the Paris Climate Agreement and the EU’s green transition goals. These include a 43 per cent reduction in emissions by 2030, with 90 per cent of new buses to be zero-emission by that year and 100 per cent by 2035.

In Vietnam, VinFast has been operating electric buses for four years. The manufacturer reports a yearly production capacity of 1,500 to 2,000 vehicles, with all manufacturing processes CE-compliant. The introduction of the EB 8 and EB 12 in Europe is described by the company as a contribution to building “smart, green, and sustainable cities” and as part of its mission to make electric mobility accessible to everyone.
