German truck rental company Hylane has appointed Maximilian Draxler to its management team. Draxler previously led the company’s finance division and will join Sara Schiffer's and Bernd Zens' executive team as managing director on 1 September.

Hylane, a provider of alternatively powered commercial vehicles, has promoted its third managing director from its own ranks. The 33-year-old has been with the company from the start, the Cologne-based firm stated in an accompanying release: “He played a key role in building up the company and, since 2022, has been responsible as Head of Finance for designing the usage-based rental model, procuring zero-emission vehicles for the steadily growing fleet, and developing efficient controlling and financial processes.”

As managing director of the newly founded Dutch subsidiary Hylane Netherlands B.V., Draxler has also led the company’s market entry in the Netherlands since 2024.

Hylane justifies the need for an expanded management team with growing business – “not only in Germany but also in neighboring European markets.” In his new role, Draxler will continue to oversee finance and additionally take responsibility for legal affairs and internationalisation.

Hylane Managing Director Sara Schiffer commented: “With Maximilian Draxler, we are bringing a colleague to the management board who knows hylane inside out and has already set key milestones in our development. Beyond his professional expertise, I particularly value his calm leadership approach, his eye for the essentials, and his commitment to our team. I am very pleased that we are now continuing our collaboration in the management team.”

“I am grateful for the opportunity to now also take on responsibility for Hylane as part of the management board,” Draxler said about his appointment. “Together with Sara Schiffer and Bernd Zens, I look forward to further developing the company in a sustainable way – for the benefit of our customers and partners.”

Speaking of development, Hylane announced only a few months ago that it would extend its rental model to battery-electric trucks. This represents a notable strategic shift, as the company had focused on hydrogen trucks in its pay-per-use business since its 2021 founding. Sara Schiffer recently explained in detail why Hylane decided to broaden its business model.
