Tesla offers Superchargers for sale to U.S. companies
Since 2023, Tesla has been offering its Supercharger charging stations for sale to other charging point operators; BP Pulse, for example, has placed a large order. Other companies have so far only been able to enter into a property deal with Tesla: they lease land or finished parking spaces to Tesla, which then builds Supercharger locations under its own name and operates them as public charging infrastructure.
At least in the USA, there is now another option: companies can purchase Tesla Superchargers as a white label solution and brand them with their own logo. According to InsideEVs, the minimum order quantity is four charging points. Customers pay for the charging station and hire a team to install it. Tesla then provides the hardware, software and support to turn car parks into fast charging stations.
Since the companies become the operators of the charging station (with Tesla support), they can also reap the profits and thus generate revenue from unused parking spaces. Tesla, in turn, can increase the number of Supercharger charging points and even gets paid for it, instead of having to invest a lot of money by itself.
Tesla does not break down the exact costs on the Supercharger for Business programme website, so it is unclear how much it costs to build the white-label Superchargers and whether or how Tesla is financially involved in their operation. Interested parties can submit an enquiry via the contact form and will then receive a quote, regardless of whether it is for a small site with four charging points or a large-scale project.
