India: Tata Motors now offers 25,000 public chargers for small CVs
The network currently spans 150 cities across India, including key metros like Bengaluru (Karnataka), Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad (Telangana), and Mumbai (Maharashtra). A ‘Tata Motors Fleet Edge’ app allows customers to conveniently find the chargers on their Android and Apple smartphones.
“Crossing the 25,000 public charging station mark is a pivotal milestone in our commitment to advancing electric cargo mobility and its enabling ecosystem,” said Pinaki Haldar, the Vice President and Business Head for the Small Commercial Vehicle and Pick-up (SCVPU) division at Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles. The company has sold more than 10,000 electric LCVs to date, and these EVs have collectively clocked more than 60 million kilometres, Haldar added.
To further boost consumer confidence in electric SCVs, Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles plans to add 25,000 more public chargers by September 2026. The company has signed MoUs with 13 charging point operators (CPOs) to install and operate these chargers: A Plus Charge, Ampvolts, chargeMOD, Charge Zone, Electric Fuel, Envo The Sustainer, EV Spot Charge, Kazam, Nikol EV, Sonik Mobility, Thunderplus Solutions, Volttic, and Zeon Electric.
Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles sells three electric SCV models in the domestic market: Ace EV, Ace Pro EV, and Ace EV 1000. In the coming months, the company may expand the portfolio with the Intra EV Pickup it unveiled at Auto Expo 2025 in January.
Like for electric SCVs, Tata Motors has big plans for pushing electric car adoption in India. Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, the subsidiary managing the company’s electric car business, has tied up with multiple CPOs to install over 30,000 public charging points by 2027.
