Jean-Philippe Parain named new CEO of Mini

BMW Group has announced a series of senior management changes that will take effect on 1 October 2025. Jean-Philippe Parain, currently Head of Sales Region Asia-Pacific, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa, will become the new CEO of the Mini brand. He succeeds Stefan Richmann, who will assume responsibility for BMW Group Treasury and Investor Relations.

Parain has been with the company since 1997, beginning in BMW France’s marketing department. He later served as President and CEO of BMW Group Belux, Head of Mini Europe, and Head of Sales Region Europe. Most recently, he has overseen the sales region Asia-Pacific, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa, where BMW and Mini achieved segment leadership.

“We are convinced that Jean-Philippe Parain, with his leadership experience and sales expertise, will help Mini build on the strong foundation of the new model family and realise the brand’s great potential in coming years,” said Jochen Goller, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, responsible for Customer, Brands and Sales.

Parain will take over the reins from Stefan Richmann, currently at the helm of Mini. Richmann, on the other hand, will move to BMW Group Treasury. During his tenure as CEO of Mini, the carmaker recorded a sales increase of around 25% by August 2025 compared with the previous year, driven in particular by strong demand for the all-electric Mini models, BMW explains in its press release.

“Stefan Richmann has done an outstanding job in steering the Mini brand into the future and positioning it for continued growth and success,” said Goller.

Richmann joined BMW Group in 1997 and has held a series of financial and strategic leadership positions across Europe and North America before taking charge of Mini in 2024. As Head of BMW Group Treasury, his remit will include liquidity management, pension investment, and financial risk management, while Investor Relations will continue to act as the company’s capital market interface.

“Stefan’s financial expertise and strategic vision make him the ideal candidate to bring the BMW Group Treasury and Investor Relations to the next level,” said Walter Mertl, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, responsible for Finance.

Parain’s old position has also already been filled. Ritu Chandy, currently Head of BMW Group Treasury, will succeed Parain as Head of Sales Region Asia-Pacific, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa. Chandy began her BMW Group career in 2001 at BMW Australia and has since held leadership roles in North America and the Asia-Pacific region. She has been based in Munich since 2022, where she has led the Group’s treasury activities and capital market relations.

“We are confident that Ritu Chandy, with her drive and strength in successfully managing heterogeneous markets, will continue to build on the strong sales performance in the region,” said Mertl.
