Renault offers early access to electric Twingo

Ahead of the planned unveiling of the Twingo E-Tech Electric on November 6, Renault is launching the 'R Pass' program, which allows early access to orders before the official market launch. The manufacturer has also published the first teaser images of the production version of the retro electric car.

A year ago, the Renault Twingo E-Tech Electric was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in the form of a show car. Since then, it has become clear that, like the electric R4 and R5, it will be a retro electric car, in this case with many design elements borrowed from the first Twingo generation from the 1990s.

Ahead of the world premiere of the production vehicle, scheduled for November 6, 2025, Renault emphasizes that the new all-electric Twingo was developed in a record time of just two years, with the aim of achieving a starting price of less than €20,000. In return, customers will get an electric car that is easy to use, has a range of up to 250 km, low consumption, and a pleasant, comfortable driving experience, according to Renault’s Italian website.

As part of the announcement, Renault has released four new teaser images of the vehicle, which is based on the AmpR Small platform (see the image gallery below). The French carmaker emphasizes that the exterior design is a clear nod to the first Twingo from 1993. The overall design is reminiscent of the one-box body of the original Twingo. At the same time, in line with the motto “small on the outside, but big on the inside,” the compact car is said to offer a spacious, modular interior.

The character of the Twingo is symbolized by its curved lines, cheerful face, and mischievous look. The round full-LED headlights seamlessly integrated into the bodywork and the smiling radiator grille—a nod to the first generation—are finished in glossy black for a striking look. A cheerful, expressive design in keeping with the original Twingo.

The ‘R Pass’ also includes a model car

To enable early buyers to secure this comparatively affordable electric car quickly, Renault is once again launching a campaign called ‘R Pass’, as it did with the R4 and R5. This pass is available exclusively online and includes several privileges related to the new Twingo E-Tech Electric. Purchasers of the pass will have the opportunity to pre-order the vehicle before its official market launch, be given priority for test drives, and be among the first to receive it. In addition, purchasers of the ‘R Pass’ will receive a 1/43 scale model of the new Twingo, which will be sent out after the official vehicle presentation, a special key cover, and invitations to special events.

The ‘R Pass’ is already available in Italy as of today and costs €100 there. Whether this price will also apply in other countries has not yet been confirmed. What is clear, however, is that the ‘R Pass’ will be available in Belgium, Spain, the Netherlands, and Germany from October 13, in the UK from October 15, and in France from October 22. In Italy, the €100 for the R Pass will not be charged when purchasing a Twingo, and this is also expected to be the case in other countries.

Twingo available in Italy with subsidy starting at €9,900

Interesting: Renault is already advertising a promotional price of just €9,900 in Italy for customers who are eligible for the new subsidy program for electric cars. However, there are several restrictions: The promotional price is only valid for the first 700 orders of a Twingo E-Tech Electric from households that are eligible for the maximum government subsidy of €11,000.

And, this subsidy is subject to three restrictions: People must have a household income of no more than €30,000 according to the so-called ISEE definition, they must also have an old vehicle up to Euro 5 scrapped, and they must live in an “Area urbana funzionale,” i.e., in one of 83 defined cities and their surrounding areas. Approximately 55 per cent of the population lives there.
