VW Anhui reveals first images of ID.UNYX 07
Volkswagen introduced the ID.UNYX sub-brand last year with a vehicle of the same name. However, that model was essentially a rebadged Cupra Tavascan with minor modifications and China-specific software. Following a minor facelift in spring, the model was renamed ID.UNYX 06, but it still relied on the MEB platform, albeit with technology adapted for China.
The ID.UNYX 07 next year will be different, as Volkswagen Anhui has abandoned the MEB for new models. The electric sedan is entirely newly developed, not an adaptation of an existing model. Visually, the 07 follows the design language of the 06 to establish a distinct brand identity for ID.UNYX. This makes the new model clearly different from previous MEB EVs available in Europe and China. Although the ID.UNYX 07 resembles a slightly taller VW ID.7 rather than a classic sedan, it maintains a distinct presence.
In the current vehicle catalogue of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the model occupies just one page, identified as VWA70002BEV1. This indicates that Volkswagen Anhui has initially applied for approval for only one powertrain variant, as each variant typically receives its own entry and consecutive identifier. The sole variant currently listed has a 170 kW motor.

Battery details vary: CN EV Post reports a Gotion High-Tech LFP battery, while CarNewsChina cites a CATL-produced LFP battery. The catalogue specifies the battery’s origin but not its capacity, so information on the battery size and range is not yet available. The curb weight is 2,057 kg, and the top speed is 160 kph.
The ID.UNYX 07 measures 4.85 m in length, about 11 cm shorter than the European ID.7. Width and height are similar at 1.85 m and 1.56 m, respectively, but the wheelbase is shorter at 2.83 m.
Volkswagen Anhui was founded in 2017 as Volkswagen’s third China joint venture with JAC, alongside long-standing partnerships with SAIC and FAW. The German group has since acquired a majority in JAC-Volkswagen and renamed it Volkswagen Anhui, after the province of its headquarters in Hefei. Volkswagen Anhui plans to launch three new models in 2026.
