Volkswagen completes new vehicle factory in Anhui
Volkswagen has completed construction of the new MEB plant in Anhui, China, and built the first pre-series vehicle there. Series production at the Anhui plant, which according to Chinese media has an annual capacity of 350,000 electric cars, is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2023.

VW to expand BEV production in China

Volkswagen launches construction of battery plant in China
Volkswagen is starting to build a production plant for battery systems in Hefei, China. The factory will initially supply between 150,000 and 180,000 high-voltage battery systems for Volkswagen Anhui’s all-electric MEB vehicles from the second half of 2023.

Volkswagen has started construction of a new MEB plant at Volkswagen Anhui in China. Following the completion of the Anting (SAIC VW) and Foshan (FAW-VW) plants, this will be the group’s third production facility for pure electric vehicles in China.

VW takes majority stake in joint venture with JAC
Volkswagen has now taken over the majority stake of the joint venture with JAC with 75 per cent, which also means management control. The company was immediately renamed from JAC Volkswagen to Volkswagen (Anhui) Automotive Company Limited since an eMobility hub is to be established in Anhui Province.
