Alpine confirms electric successor to the A110
Alpine has officially confirmed that the next generation of its iconic A110 will be fully electric. The French sports car manufacturer, part of the Renault Group, announced that production of the current, combustion-powered A110 at the Manufacture Alpine Jean Rédélé Dieppe will cease in mid-2026, after a final run of 1,750 units. The forthcoming third-generation A110 will be the first Alpine model to use the new Alpine Performance Platform (APP), a dedicated architecture developed entirely in-house for high-performance electric vehicles.
The platform was first introduced in 2023, and it was already announced at the time that the first model based on the APP would debut in 2026 and that it would be the successor to the current A110. The latter was presented as a concept car in 2022 and named the Alpine A110 E-ternité.
The manufacturer has not provided any details about the upcoming production version of the EV. The study from three years ago featured 178 kW of power and used the same battery cells as the Mégane E-Tech Electric (60 kWh total).
However, as noted in 2022, the cells are arranged differently in the upcoming sports car. In order to achieve optimal weight distribution and to accommodate the twelve battery modules, special battery housings were developed and the vehicle architecture was adapted. Four modules were placed at the front and eight at the rear.
Despite the twelve battery modules, the Alpine A110 E-ternité is only 258 kilograms heavier than the standard version with a petrol engine, and its range was quoted at 420 kilometres.
“The countdown begins for the brand’s iconic model before its transformation into a proper electric sports car,” the company stated in the current press release, confirming the next major step towards full electrification. Following the A290 and the A390 crossover, the next A110 will complete Alpine’s first generation of fully electric vehicles.
Specifically, the carmaker said that it “is about to open another milestone chapter in its history, with the A110 remaining a prominent contributor, soon to be renewed as a Berlinetta that aims to reinvent French-style electric sports cars.”
