Honda unveils two electric prototypes at Japan Mobility Show 2025

The Honda 0 α joins the Honda 0 Series lineup, following the Honda 0 Saloon and Honda 0 SUV introduced at CES 2025 earlier this year. Equipped with next-generation EV technologies, the production version of the Honda 0 α is scheduled to go on sale from 2027, starting in Japan and India.

The carmaker does not name any technical details about the drivetrain or the battery. In fact, it has not done so about any on the Series 0 model so far. Honda initially introduced the 0 Series at CES in January 2024, followed later by some more information. However, so far it only stated that The Honda 0 Saloon and Honda 0 SUV will have a range “in the 300-mile class in EPA mode,” equivalent to around 482 kilometres.

But back to the presentation of the new Series 0 family member: According to Honda, the 0 α is designed as a “gateway model for the world of Honda 0 Series,” intended to fit both urban and natural environments. The vehicle will feature a range of next-generation technologies that epitomise the Honda 0 Series’ “Thin, Light, and Wise” development approach.

The manufacturer states that its “Thin” design approach enables a low vehicle height while maintaining ground clearance, creating a slim cabin layout with a wide stance. The exterior integrates design elements into front and rear screen areas. At the front, the headlights, charging port, and illuminated Honda emblem are combined in a single panel. The rear features a U-shaped light signature uniting the tail, brake, and turn signal functions.

Super-ONE Prototype focuses on driving engagement

Honda also presented the Super-ONE Prototype, a compact electric model developed under the concept “e: Dash BOOSTER.” The vehicle is designed to provide an engaging driving experience by combining dynamic performance with features that stimulate multiple senses.

“The name ‘Super-ONE’ represents the aspiration of Honda to create a vehicle that transcends conventional norms and standards (“super”) and delivers customer value unique only to Honda (“one and only”),” the company said.

The prototype is based on a lightweight platform derived from the Honda N Series, which was presented earlier this year, and adopts a wider stance with flared fenders for improved handling. According to Honda, the vehicle introduces “Boost Mode,” which temporarily increases power output. The system synchronises a simulated seven-speed transmission with Honda’s Active Sound Control to reproduce engine sounds and gearshift feedback.

“In Boost Mode, the Super-ONE Prototype stimulates the driver’s senses — including visual and auditory senses, as well as a tactile sensation of acceleration and vibration — offering an uplifting EV driving experience,” Honda says.

Global rollout planned from 2026

Honda reports that the Super-ONE Prototype has been tested in Japan, the UK, and several Asian markets. The concept model that preceded it, the Super EV Concept, was showcased at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK, where it completed a dynamic run on the hill climb course.

The production model based on the Super-ONE Prototype will launch in Japan in 2026, followed by markets including the UK and various Asian countries. Honda says the vehicle will be marketed under different names depending on the region: Super-ONE in Japan and the Asia & Oceania region, Honda Super-ONE in some Asian markets, and Super-N in the UK.

Inside, the Super-ONE Prototype features a layout designed to support an immersive driving experience. The model includes dedicated sports seats, a horizontally oriented instrument panel for improved visibility, and an asymmetric blue interior trim. The triple-gauge display and configurable lighting adapt to different driving modes.

Honda states that both the Honda 0 α and the Super-ONE Prototype demonstrate the company’s approach to expanding its electric range while integrating technology, design, and driving performance into future EVs.
