Genesis presents the GV60 Magma high-performance variant of the GV60
Kia unveiled the EV6 GT, and Hyundai has the Ioniq 5 N; however, until now, the premium subsidiary Genesis had not introduced a high-performance variant of its sibling model, the GV60. Through its ‘Magma’ subsidiary, Genesis has spent recent years developing a performance-focused line. Under the name Genesis Magma Racing, the company will soon enter endurance motorsport, though with a hybrid race car rather than a fully electric one.
The first production model from Magma is fully electric, like the Ioniq 5 and EV6, the GV60 is built on the dedicated E-GMP electric platform. Unsurprisingly, the technical specifications of the Magma variant closely mirror those of its sportier siblings: the dual-motor setup delivers 448 kW and 740 Nm, with a boost mode increasing output to 478 kW and 790 Nm for 15 seconds. The top speed is 264 kph. With launch control, the GV60 Magma accelerates from a standstill to 200 kph in just 10.9 seconds. The battery remains the 84-kWh version of the E-GMP.
The GV60 Magma introduces several “Magma-exclusive high-performance features—including VGS (Virtual Gear Shift), Drift Mode, and HPBC (High-Performance Battery Control).” Features such as the simulated gearshift for a more engaging driving experience and Drift Mode are already familiar from the Ioniq 5 N.

Alongside the GV60 Magma, Genesis also unveiled its ‘Luxury High Performance’ strategy for the next decade. According to the company, it “prioritises balanced power, finely tuned driving dynamics and seamless harmony between driver and car, rather than relying on excessive energy or intensity.” Magma aims to “translate the Genesis design philosophy of Athletic Elegance into the high-performance segment, emphasising balanced dynamics and seamless harmony between driver and vehicle.”
The GV60 Magma is set to launch in Europe and North America from 2026. Pricing for this range-topping model has yet to be announced. In Germany, the base version with a 168 kW rear-wheel-drive system starts at €54,680, while the ‘Sport+’ variant with a 360 kW all-wheel-drive system already costs at least €74,480. This means the current top model is already nearly as expensive as the 478 kW Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. The GV60 Magma is therefore likely to exceed €80,000.
“Genesis achieved one million global sales faster than any luxury marque in history. Magma represents our declaration that the next ten years will be even more significant,” says José Muñoz, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company and Genesis. “We’re not just building high-performance vehicles; we’re redefining what a luxury high performance brand can be when Korean innovation meets global ambition.”
