Hyundai is launching Ioniq as a fully electric subsidiary

Hyundai is making Ioniq its own sub-brand for future battery electric vehicles based on the new Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) with 800-volt technology. The first model will be the Ioniq 5 based on the Hyundai 45 concept car next year, with two further Ioniq models already announced.

Hyundai Prophecy concept rumoured to replace Ioniq

According to a British media report, the Prophecy electric concept vehicle recently presented by Hyundai will go into series production and is to replace the Ioniq. The new electric limousine could come onto the market by 2021.

Kia announces plans for 11 BEVs by 2025

As part of its now presented ‘Plan S’ strategy, Kia has announced eleven all-electric models up to the year 2025. By then, 25 per cent of sales will be accounted for by “environmentally friendly vehicles”. The first fully electric model is to be launched in 2021.

Hyundai is developing an electric car platform

With the Kona and the Ioniq, Hyundai already has successful electric cars on offer but both stand on shared platforms with combustion vehicles and hybrids. Now a pure electric vehicle platform is about to be completed, with the prototypes to be ready this year.
