With the introduction of a new, entry-level Model Y, Tesla is rounding out its lineup in the UK. The slimmed-down electric vehicle even offers a slightly better range, delivering a total of 314 miles per charge due to its reduced weight. The Standard Model Y can go up to 110 mph at top speed, and manages the acceleration from 0-60 mph in 6.9 seconds.

According to Tesla, customer deliveries will begin in February 2026. A leasing offer is also available for £299 per month on a 36-month lease with a £3,588 deposit.

The improved range has a downside, however, as the car’s sound system has seven speakers rather than the typical nine, and there is no touchscreen for rear passengers. The cabin air filtration system is not as comprehensive, and drivers must adjust the steering wheel position manually rather than electrically.

Furthermore, the light bars at the front and rear were removed, as well as doing away with the panoramic roof, to lower costs. The faux leather interior is traded out for cloth, and the centre console is smaller. There is also no physical key, so drivers will have to use a smartphone app to gain access to the car, so make sure to keep a charger around.

Meanwhile, the Model 3 Standard has still not made it to Tesla’s lineup in the UK. The model was introduced at the same time as the Model Y Standard in October, but Tesla has not detailed when it plans to bring the car to the UK.

In India, Tesla also recently released an upgraded Model Y Long Range, increasing its WLTP range from 622 to 661 kilometres. We were recently able to take the new Model Y Performance out for a spin, finding that it managed a perfect blend of driving thrill and everyday practicality. In China, a Model Y variant is to be released with even more range; however, the manufacturer is still waiting on official approval.
