India: TGSRTC deploys 65 electric city buses in Hyderabad
EveyTrans Pvt. Ltd., another subsidiary of MEIL, procured the 65 electric buses from Olectra and is operating them for TGSRTC on a Gross Cost Contract (GCC) basis. The company is deploying them on key routes connecting Borabanda, Gachibowli, Isnapur, Kondapur, Miyapur, Ramayampet, and Secunderabad. The new electric buses serve commuters across nearly 373 colonies and several high-density corridors.
MEIL says EveyTrans is using a 12-metre low-floor model for this contract, and the design indicates it is referring to the Olectra X2, which features a 400 mm floor height and a kneeling mechanism for easy access. TGSRTC has specified the buses with 36 seats and space for a wheelchair.
The new electric buses offer conveniences such as pneumatic doors, USB Type-A charging ports, and digital display boards. They also feature location tracking, fire detection and suppression systems, and CCTV cameras for enhanced safety and security.

The Olectra X2 features a 180 kW motor powered by an LFP battery pack that takes four to five hours to charge. It can reach 0 to 30 kph in less than 10.5 seconds, achieve a top speed of 70 kph, and deliver a range of up to 300 kilometres.
In March 2023, TGSRTC placed an order for 50 standard-floor 12-metre intercity coach electric buses for the Hyderabad–Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) route and 500 low-floor 12-metre electric city buses for Hyderabad from MEIL, under which EveyTrans would procure the buses from Olectra and operate them on a GCC basis. This was the largest single order for electric buses in South India, and the 65 electric buses TGSRTC flagged off on Wednesday form part of this deal.
Of the 500 electric city buses, EveyTrans has so far put 325 units into service. It plans to deliver the remaining 175 units by January 2026.
