XCharge and Energy Plus plan major battery-backed fast-charging depot in Brooklyn
The site will operate under Energy Plus’ Eplug brand and is designed for dense, high-demand urban environments. Once complete, the depot will comprise 44 GridLink units supplied by XCharge North America, providing a total of 9.46 MWh of on-site energy storage and serving 88 parking spaces with fast-charging capability.
In addition to serving everyday drivers, the Williamsburg depot is planned to support fleet customers requiring fast turnaround times and high uptime. Energy Plus has indicated that the Brooklyn project is intended as a blueprint for similar battery-backed urban charging sites in other major US cities as electrification demand continues to grow. For now, it will be one of the largest battery-backed EV charging depots in the United States.
By integrating battery storage with high-power charging infrastructure, the project is intended to reduce peak-load pressure on the local electricity grid. Energy can be drawn during off-peak periods and discharged during times of high demand, supporting grid resilience and cost management. The companies state that GridLink’s bidirectional energy flow and decentralised storage architecture are designed to strengthen local infrastructure in areas experiencing sustained peak-hour strain.

“Helping launch the East Coast’s largest battery-backed fast-charging depot is a defining moment for XCharge NA and for the EV industry,” said Aatish Patel, co-founder and president of XCharge North America. “Through this strategic alignment with Energy Plus, we’re proving that the EV transition can thrive domestically, setting a model for how public and private companies can come together to accelerate the clean energy transition and make urban energy cleaner, faster, and smarter.”
New York-based energy-efficiency and electrification contractor Energy Plus will develop and operate the site under its Eplug concept, which focuses on predictable operations, a compact physical footprint and integration into existing urban neighbourhoods.
“This is what American-made electrification looks like in practice: XCharge North America provides the cutting-edge technology and hardware, and we build the infrastructure here with local American labour,” said Moshe Lefkowitz, founder of Energy Plus. “Together we’re not only creating a model that any U.S. city can replicate, but also laying the foundation for Eplug, a network designed for real urban life.”
