Galliker inaugurates E-Power Bridge and begins construction of new lorry charging bays
As early as 2021, we first reported on electric lorries at Galliker: at the time, a battery-electric oversized lorry from the Designwerk brand Futuricum was put into service for heavy and special transport. In 2022, the first fully electric car transporter in Switzerland, also from Futuricum, followed. In 2024, a car transporter for the transport of new Porsche vehicles from Zuffenhausen to Switzerland was added—and, together with Designwerk, the company has long been researching megawatt charging. This is just a small snapshot—Galliker already operates more than 90 electric lorries today and plans to commission nearly 140 additional battery-electric vehicles this year and next.
Clearly, such a large fleet of electric lorries requires robust charging infrastructure. That is why the company, based in Altishofen in the canton of Lucerne, is currently making the necessary investments. During a site visit to the logistics centre in the municipality of Dagmersellen, near its headquarters in Altishofen, two milestones were celebrated: the groundbreaking ceremony for the new E-Park & Ride project took place, and the completed E-Power Bridge was officially inaugurated just a few metres away.
Overhead charging system inaugurated
First, the E-Power Bridge: this is a gantry equipped with charging technology similar to the overhead chargers used by Rüdinger Spedition in Krautheim. Electric vehicles can drive under a bridge-like structure and stop to recharge. The E-Power Bridge at Galliker offers six charging bays. As shown in the images, charging cables are lowered from the gantry for the charging process and can be easily plugged into the vehicles. Galliker does not disclose the available charging power but confirms that electricity from a photovoltaic system is used, and the generated solar power is stored in a battery energy storage system (BESS) to enable charging even at night.

With the E-Park & Ride project, Galliker aims to significantly expand its charging infrastructure in Dagmersellen—for both electric lorries and electric cars. Specifically, 41 high-power charging points for electric lorries are to be installed. Thanks to the high charging capacity (which Galliker does not specify), each charging point is expected to serve two electric lorries per night, meaning a total of 82 electric trucks can be charged nightly. This will be enabled by three transformers, each with a capacity of 2 megawatts.
This initiative will reduce parking space for cars. However, Galliker plans to compensate by constructing an underground car park with 300 parking spaces, 74 of which will be equipped with charging points to allow employees and company vehicles to charge their electric cars.
650 Electric Lorries Planned Within Ten Years
These measures are part of the Zero Emissions Network project, which Galliker announced in May 2025. The core objective: the Swiss company plans to expand its fleet to 650 electric lorries within ten years. By the end of 2030, Galliker aims to have built the necessary infrastructure, including photovoltaic systems, battery storage, medium-voltage grids, and charging stations.
CEO Peter Galliker stated during the celebrations: “With E-Park & Ride and the E-Power Bridge, we are creating infrastructure that sustainably supports our company’s transformation into a low-emission transport service provider. With the Zero Emissions Network, we are investing in a future where our logistics are climate-friendly and responsible.”
