Wackenhut becomes Germany’s first Lucid dealer
The automotive retail group Wackenhut, based in Nagold (Baden-Württemberg), will begin distributing and servicing Lucid’s entire vehicle range at its Baden-Baden location from 30 March 2026, with a second site in Stuttgart set to follow in summer 2026. The announcement was made by Lucid in a recent statement.
While two sales locations with showrooms are planned for the launch, additional Wackenhut branches will also be integrated into the partnership. “In addition to Baden-Baden and Stuttgart, further Wackenhut sites will offer service support,” the statement added. This is intended to improve regional service coverage for customers.
Since entering the European market, Lucid has relied on a direct-to-consumer model – in Germany, sales are conducted via its own website and four ‘Lucid Studios’ sites in Munich, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, and Hamburg. Additionally, several Lucid Service Centres and Mobile Service Hubs handle maintenance and repairs. The hybrid sales strategy announced last year combines this direct-to-consumer approach with independent retail partners. “Under the new hybrid model, Lucid retains responsibility for brand positioning and pricing, while regional partners handle local sales and service,” the carmaker explained.
No concrete plans for further partnerships have been disclosed at this time; the current announcement focuses solely on the partnership with the automotive retail group Wackenhut. In an investor presentation last week, in which the company also teased two new mid-range models, Lucid mentioned two new locations in Germany that it has already secured contractually—likely Baden-Baden and Stuttgart. A total of ten locations are still under letters of intent and could follow later this year. A map of Germany highlights potential sites in North Rhine-Westphalia, Lower Saxony, and presumably Berlin. Additionally, Lucid has already partnered with Kazenmaier for leasing. (link in German)
In its statement, Lucid described Wackenhut as ‘one of the region’s leading premium automotive retailers’, known for its ‘clear focus on customer service’. Wackenhut operates eleven locations in total and employs certified high-voltage technicians to carry out work on electric vehicles.
“We are opening a new chapter for Lucid in Europe and are delighted to implement our new sales strategy with Wackenhut as our first partner. Wackenhut shares our ambition to drive Lucid’s growth in one of our most important markets, Germany,” says Lawrence Hamilton, President of Europe at Lucid. “With two award-winning models in our portfolio, now is the right time to expand our sales and service capacities. Through collaboration with experienced retail partners like Wackenhut, we are making the Lucid Experience accessible to even more drivers across Europe.”
“For us, innovation means more than progress—it means responsibility, evolving what already exists, and opening new perspectives,” adds Ernst-Jürgen Wackenhut, CEO of Wackenhut. “That is why we are joining forces with Lucid, a brand born from innovation. Together, we aim to actively shape the future of mobility.”
