UK: Kia EV3 and EV4 ‘Motion’ now eligible for the Electric Car Grant

Kia has announced that additional electric models now qualify for the UK Government’s Electric Car Grant (ECG), including the Kia EV3 and a newly introduced Kia EV4 ‘Motion’ variant. The grant provides a £1,500 reduction on the on-the-road price and is available to both retail and fleet customers.

The EV3 becomes eligible for the ECG for the first time, with both ‘Air’ and ‘GT-Line’ grades qualifying. With the subsidy applied, the entry-level EV3 ‘Air’ Standard Range with a 58.3 kWh battery is priced from £31,555, while the Long Range version with an 81.4 kWh battery starts at £34,555.

The EV3 is the third Kia model to qualify for the scheme, joining the EV4 and Kia PV5 Passenger, which became eligible in December 2025. Eligibility is subject to compliance with criteria covering emissions, range, sustainability and warranty support. You can read more about the criteria in this previous article.

Alongside the EV3 update, Kia has introduced a new EV4 ‘Motion’ grade, positioned between ‘GT-Line’ and ‘GT-Line S’. The variant also qualifies for the £1,500 grant and is available from £38,995 on-the-road. The model is equipped with an 81.4 kWh battery and a 201 bhp front-mounted electric motor. “

Following the successful launch of the Kia EV4 last year, a new Special Edition model is being introduced,” the company said.

The EV4 ‘Motion’ features include an eight-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, heated outer rear seats, surround-view monitor and driver seat with lumbar support. The variant is offered exclusively as a five-door hatchback and is manufactured at Kia’s Žilina plant in Slovakia.

With the latest additions, Kia now offers three electric passenger models under the ECG scheme: EV3, EV4 and PV5 Passenger. Kia stated it will provide further updates on ECG eligibility in the coming months, with the EV2, which just launched in the UK, expected to qualify for both Tier 1 and Tier 2 support.

The wealth tax threshold has now increased to £50k on an EV, which makes buying the GT Line S a better option.
