EZO secures £176m contract in England’s Midlands

UK charging provider EZO has secured a £176 million contract to deploy and operate EV charging infrastructure across four Midlands councils. The 15-year project will add 250 rapid and ultra-rapid chargers and support more than two million residents.

The agreement covers Worcestershire, Leicestershire, Rutland and Warwickshire and was awarded by the Fourth Midlands EV Infrastructure Consortium (FMeviC), a partnership between the four local authorities working alongside Midlands Connect. It will see 250 new public chargers installed across the region, serving more than two million residents. According to EZO, the focus is on rapid and ultra-rapid charging infrastructure, with particular attention given to areas reliant on on-street parking.

This marks EZO’s second major public charging contract in the UK within the last year. In October 2025, the company signed a 20-year contract worth £300 million to deploy charging infrastructure across the north of Scotland. EZO states that it now operates more than 400 chargers in the region and is developing around 1,000 additional charging points there.

With the new Midlands agreement, EZO says its total UK contract value has now reached £476 million. The Midlands project will be funded by the UK government and delivered by EZO without direct capital investment from the participating councils.

Ollie Chatten, CEO of EZO, described the contract as ‘another major milestone for EZO and a clear demonstration of the trust local UK authorities are placing in us to deliver EV charging at scale.’ He added: “This rollout will transform EV charging in the Midlands, making it easier than ever for residents and businesses to switch to clean transport.”
