Rivian Adventure Network announces fast charging milestone
According to the US Department of Energy’s Alternative Fuels Data Center (AFDC), the Rivian Adventure Network (RAN) has now grown to more than 1000 fast charging points across 148 US locations. Each site uses Rivian’s proprietary DC fast charging stall, which utilise a single charging cable.
Currently, only 166 of its stalls (across 50 locations) feature NACS connectors; a number the company seeks to increase since the launch of its NACS retrofit initiative last year. At the time, Rivian said it hoped a ‘substantial portion’ of its American network would be NACS-enabled by the end of 2025, suggesting the rollout of NACS is taking slightly longer than expected. However, the company highlighted that six of its Adventure Network stations now exclusively deploy NACS chargers, linking this to the introduction of native NACS ports on its facelifted flagship EVs including the new Rivian R2. Elsewhere, NACS connectors are being installed alongside existing CCS infrastructure.
Each charger is fully integrated with Rivian’s digital ecosystem, which allows drivers to monitor charger availability in real time via the Rivian app or through the in-vehicle infotainment system. In a statement, the company said: “By owning the hardware, software, and localized maintenance, we’ve maintained a 98% uptime across the network in 2025 and continue the push for reliability in 2026 and beyond.”
First envisioned in 2021, Rivian Adventure Network charging stations were previously available exclusively to owners of Rivian EVs. Plans at the time targeted more than 3,500 DC chargers at more than 600 locations in the USA and Canada by the end of 2023.
