McMurtry unveils production version of its electric racing car, Spéirling Pure
McMurtry has revealed that around 95 per cent of the components in the Spéirling Pure have been redeveloped compared to its previous prototype record-breaking vehicles. These prototypes have set top times at events such as the Goodwood Festival of Speed and on the Top Gear test track over the past two years. In the production version, the lithium-ion battery has been upgraded from 60 to 100kWh. The new Helix electric motors are expected to deliver around 745kW in parallel – equivalent to 1,014 hp. According to the manufacturer, the Spéirling Pure accelerates from 0 to 60mph (around 96km/h) in 1.55 seconds, with a top speed of 305km/h. On the racetrack, a single battery charge should last for 40 to 50km at the pace of an LMP2 racing car.
The most striking feature remains the patented fan system, which generates downforce of up to 2,000kg regardless of speed. For the production version, the fans, cooling system, and underbody have been redesigned. Additionally, the vehicle now offers more space in the cockpit, hydraulic power steering, and an upgraded suspension system.

Despite its extreme performance capabilities, the Spéirling Pure can be deployed on the racetrack with comparatively little effort, according to the manufacturer. With the production version, McMurtry is bringing its former record-breaking vehicle to the open market for the first time. The first customer deliveries are expected to begin in 2026, with a base price of €1.15m plus taxes.
