Kia EV2 Long Range now eligible for UK Electric Car Grant
According to the automaker, all variants of the EV2 with the 61kWh Long Range battery are now eligible for the maximum £3,750 grant – including the ‘Air’, ‘GT-Line’, and ‘GT-Line S’ models.
The new grant eligibility brings the price of the entry level version down to £24,245; the GT-Line LR to £28,995; plus the EV2 GT-Line S LR down to £32,595. Kia states that “these variants offer high levels of standard specification alongside an all-electric driving range of up to 275 miles on a single charge.” The company adds that the ECG is “exclusively available to electric cars adhering to strict minimum criteria covering emissions, range, sustainability and warranty support.”
The Long Range edition follows in the footsteps of the EV2 ‘First Edition’, which became eligible for ECG in April of this year – namely, the lower Band 2 grant which provides £1,500 towards the cost of purchase. In total, it means that 13 Kia EVs across the EV2, EV3, EV4, and the Passenger ranges are now all eligible for the grant scheme.
Previously, Kia offered its own £1,500 discount on the EV2 via its ‘Kia EV2 Reservation Saving’, although this has now been replaced by the government’s own ECG scheme. You can read electrive’s detailed driving review of the EV2 here.
