Yamaha expanding electric two-wheeler business
Yamaha is taking their electric bike business further into new markets. A cooperation with Gogoro for Yamaha to use the firm’s battery swapping system in Taiwan is just in the making. Yamaha will add their design and marketing power. Moreover, they started selling pedelecs in the U.S. for the first time.
Piaggio begins production of electrified Vespa
The cult classic is returning with an electric motor. Piaggio has announced the production kickoff for their electric Vespa for September. Next to a fully electric version, the Italian two-wheeler manufacturer is planning on offering a range extended version with an additional generator in future.
Berlin: Simple eScooter with Bosch motor for €2,000
Berlin-based startup Simple Mobility is making an electric scooter at a price below 2,000 euros. Their Simple eScooter uses Bosch technology in form of a 1,500 Watt electric motor and two battery options. They last for 50 or 100 km respectively. It sells online only.
TVS Motor to reveal hybrid scooter iQube
The Indian manufacturer TVS Motor will likely be presenting their new hybrid scooter later this month, called the iQube. They also plan to invest in another Indian manufacturer named Ultraviolette Automotive.
Lime pitching to rent out small electric cars
The bike sharing business Lime wants to expands their electric fleets to four wheels. A confidential deck for investors obtained by Axiom outlines a fleet of small rental EVs and other services to be added this year. Plus, their e-scooter sharing appears profitable.
Frisco’s Scoot Networks coming to Europe
Scoot Networks, the electric scooter sharing company from San Francisco, has just set up its European HQ in Barcelona. Catalonia’s capital now also got about 1,500 electric two-wheelers to share at their disposal and Scoot plans to take shared mobility further.
EVs to be made in Croatia by Green Tech Group?
The Green Tech Group founded by Chinese investor Karl Soong, who wanted to buy Rimac, and Croatian entrepreneur Mladen Ninčević is planning to establish an EV factory in Croatia. They bought the grounds already and the plant is to be set up over the next ten years.
Emmy e-scooter fleet to grow in Munich
The emmy e-scooter sharing is growing in Munich, where the Berlin-based startup has announced plans to expand their fleet by another 400 units. In the Bavarian capital, emmy is working with the local firm Green City Energy.
Electric scooter sharing Go-Green to launch in Geneva
It will be the Alpine Republic’s first fleet of electric scooters to share once Go Green got its offer going this April in Geneva. 50 electric scooters from German Kumpan electric will mark the start of the planned expansion across Switzerland and Europe.
Cityscoot collects fresh financing of 40 million euros
The French electric scooter company Cityscoot has secured additional financing valued at 40 million euros. They plan to seriously expand in Paris and beyond, expanding to additional cities, including Nice, and three other cities, which have not yet been decided. One is set to be in France, one in Switzerland, and one in Italy.
Coup in Spain – Bosch electric scooters to hit Madrid
Bosch’s electric scooter sharing Coup is coming to Spain this summer, when Madrid will witness the launch of the Gogoro scooters. For Bosch it is the third European capital where the firm deploys the electric two-wheelers and the fleet is to grow to 3,500 LEVs this year.
