Building materials producer Holcim has entered into a strategic partnership with German startup Magment. The aim of the cooperation is to improve Magment’s magnetisable concrete technology for road surfaces, which can be used to wirelessly charge electric vehicles while driving.

Designwerk has delivered three electric concrete mixer trucks to Holcim Switzerland under the Futuricum commercial vehicle brand. In the Futuricum Concrete 40E, both the drive motor and the mixing drums are fully electrically operated.

The vehicle manufacturer Liebherr, in cooperation with Designwerk and ZF, have developed the first fully electric truck mixers with a drum holding ten or twelve cubic metres on a five-axle chassis. The first applications are planned for autumn 2020 at the customers Holcim and KIBAG in Switzerland.
