Morrow Batteries to source separators from Celgard
Budding Norwegian battery cell manufacturer Morrow Batteries has signed a multi-year development agreement with separator manufacturer Celgard. Production of battery cells in Morrow’s Gigafactory is scheduled to start in 2024 using Celgard’s separators.

Norway invests in sustainable battery production
The Norwegian government’s Green Platform initiative has approved around 100 million Norwegian kroner (about 9.8 million euros) to support the research project ‘Sustainable Materials for the Battery Value Chain’ to establish sustainable battery production in the country.

Li-Cycle announces two new recycling plants
The Canadian battery recycling company Li-Cycle has announced its first factory outside North America, in Norway. What is more, the company is building another recycling factory in North America in cooperation with GM’s Ultium Cells. The plant will be Li-Cycle largest facility to date.

Posco & Morrow Batteries to develop cathode materials
Norwegian company Morrow Batteries is working with South Korean company Posco Chemical to jointly develop cathode and anode materials for Morrow’s future battery cells. The collaboration is expected to lead to a long-term volume supply contract.

Morrow and Vianode cooperate on anode materials
The Norwegian companies Morrow Batteries and Vianode have signed a memorandum of understanding for the development and supply of anode materials. Vianode is to supply Morrow’s planned battery cell plant with the jointly developed materials.

Morrow Batteries to build 32 GWh battery factory in Norway
The location has now been determined for the planned 32 GWh battery cell factory by Norwegian company Morrow Batteries for electric vehicles: The plant will be built in Eyde Energipark in Arendal in the southern Norwegian region of Agder. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2023.

Norway will become home to 32 GWh battery cell plant
The newly founded Norwegian company Morrow Batteries plans to build a battery cell factory for electric cars. In the final stage of expansion, the factory will have a capacity of 32 GWh. The first of the four planned expansion stages, each with 8 GWh, should be completed in 2024.
