Porsche is cooperating with the Norwegian aluminium producer Norsk Hydro to significantly reduce the COâ‚‚ footprint of aluminium in the automotive supply chain. By 2030, the aluminium supplied to Porsche and its suppliers should even be COâ‚‚-free.

Norway invests in sustainable battery production
The Norwegian government’s Green Platform initiative has approved around 100 million Norwegian kroner (about 9.8 million euros) to support the research project ‘Sustainable Materials for the Battery Value Chain’ to establish sustainable battery production in the country.

Hydrovolt constructing battery recycling plant
Hydrovolt has started construction of a battery recycling plant in Fredrikstad, Norway. The newly founded joint venture between the Swedish battery manufacturer Northvolt and the Norwegian aluminium producer Norsk Hydro says the plant will be operational at the end of 2021.

Panasonic looks to Norway for European battery production
Panasonic has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the energy company Equinor and the industrial group Norsk Hydro to explore the possibilities for building a “sustainable and cost-effective European battery business” for electric vehicles, likely in Norway.
