EMT Madrid places bus order with Solaris & Irizar
The public transport operator EMT Madrid has placed orders for 150 more electric standard buses. The Spanish manufacturer Irizar with 90 units of the 12-metre iebus and the Polish manufacturer Solaris with 60 Urbino 12 Electric are the winners of EMT’s largest electric tender to date.

Western Australia starts subsidies + road tax for EVs
The Western Australian government has launched the Clean Energy Car Fund doted with almost $60 million (AUS – almost 40 million euros). This includes rebates for the purchase of battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and charging infrastructure, but also an extra road tax for drivers of these vehicles.

Siemens to deliver seven BEV trains in Denmark
Siemens Mobility has received an order to supply seven Mireo Plus B battery-powered trains to Midtjyske Jernbaner in Denmark. This is the first order for battery-powered rail vehicles in Denmark and part of a pilot project.

Milan’s public transport operator ATM is continuing the conversion of its bus fleet to electric vehicles: ATM has ordered a further 75 electric buses from Solaris – the company’s Urbino 12 electric buses are due to arrive in Milan later this year.

Proterra to improve battery capacity on the ZX5 bus
US electric bus manufacturer Proterra has announced increased battery capacity for its ZX5 battery-electric transit bus. Starting next year, the 40-foot (12.2-metre) version of the Proterra ZX5 can be equipped with up to 738 kWh of battery capacity.

Autoguidovie launches tender for electric buses in Italy

Aberdeen receives 22 electric double-deckers
In Scotland, Stagecoach Bluebird has unveiled 22 BYD-ADL Enviro400EV electric double decker buses. The public transport provider will put the fully electric buses into operation in the city of Aberdeen at the end of this month.

MAN takes order for 53 electric buses in Hamburg
MAN Truck & Bus has just received two orders from Hamburg for a total of 53 electric buses. Hamburger Hochbahn has ordered 17 Lion’s City 18 E, while an order from Verkehrsbetriebe Hamburg-Holstein (VHH) includes 30 electric solo and six articulated buses. The first electric buses are to be delivered this year.

Novi Sad will be the first Serbian city with Solaris electric buses. The transport company JGSP Novi Sad has ordered ten Solaris Urbino 12 Electric buses from the Polish manufacturer, including the charging infrastructure. Solaris has also received another order from Poland.

BYD to deliver 30 electric buses for Nobina
The local transport operator Nobina has ordered another 30 electric buses from BYD for use in the Finnish capital region of Helsinki. The new order comprises 15 units each with a length of 13 and 15 metres, which are to be delivered to Helsinki at the end of 2022.

ZEBRA: UK Gov’ funds nearly 1,000 zero-emission buses
The British Government, through its Zero Emission Bus Regional Areas (ZEBRA) scheme, has granted £198Mn to twelve towns and cities. The money will fund 943 battery-electric and hydrogen buses plus associated infrastructure and is the largest funding route to date.

RATP Dev London granted HSBC loan for electric buses
