MAN to supply Lion electric buses to Copenhagen

Public transit operator Anchersen has ordered 25 electric buses from MAN Truck & Bus to service in Copenhagen. Delivery is scheduled for the end of the year. Anchersen says it will use the battery-electric buses on Copenhagen’s central bus route 7A, which carries more than 4.3 million passengers each year.

First Bus order 125 electric buses from BYD-ADL

UK electric bus partners BYD and ADL have received another major order from Scotland. The operator First Bus has ordered 126 electric buses for use in Glasgow. These are 91 double-decker and 35 single-deck buses, which are to operate in Glasgow from March 2023.

Opole oders 5 Solaris e-buses & charging equipment

The Polish city of Opole has ordered five electric buses including charging infrastructure from Solaris. The five Urbino 12 electric buses are to be delivered to the city’s transport operator Miejski Zakład Komunikacyjny (MZK) in Opole in the first half of 2022.

MAN to begin articulated e-bus production in Poland

MAN has announced that the series production of the Lion’s City 18 E articulated bus will start in Poland in April. Some vehicles that are still assembled in pre-series will be in service earlier: one such Lion’s City 18 E will go into regular service in Cologne from April.

Microvast to supply battery for bus manufacturer Safra

Battery manufacturer Microvast has signed a framework agreement with French bus manufacturer Safra. Over the next three years, Microvast will supply Safra with three standardised battery products for the company’s electric and hybrid buses, as well as for retrofitting the bus fleet.

Ostrava orders 24 e-buses from Solaris

Polish bus manufacturer Solaris has received its first electric bus order from the Czech Republic. The transport operator Dopravní Podnik in Ostrava (DPO) has ordered 24 Urbino 12 electric buses from the Polish manufacturer, including the charging infrastructure.

The British government today issued a major new bus strategy with a framework for “enhanced local partnerships” and a pledge to invest £3Bn (about €3.5Bn). The three-billion-pound package includes investments in 4,000 greener buses powered by electricity and hydrogen.

Daimler recalls eCitaro buses with solid-state batteries

There are issues with the solid-state battery buses Daimler delivered to the city of Wiesbaden in February. The 21 Mercedes-Benz eCitaros have been out of service for a good two weeks as their batteries are undergoing checks due to an insulation fault that could lead to short circuits.

Canada invests in e-buses and infrastructure

Between 2021 and 2026, the Canadian government wants to invest a total of 2.75 billion dollars (around 1.8 billion euros) in the promotion of all-electric buses, including school buses and their charging infrastructure. The measure is part of a public transport funding offensive.

More electric buses orders from Germany for BYD

Deutsche Bahn has ordered electric buses from the Chinese manufacturer BYD for the first time for its bus transport division DB Regio Bus. Initially, five electric 12-metre BYD buses will go into operation at DB Regio Bus in Ettlingen, Baden-Württemberg, over the course of this year.

ADL presents next-generation hydrogen bus platform

Scottish bus builder Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL) has announced its next-generation hydrogen double-decker bus. Developed under the project name H2.0, the model is due to hit the roads this year and will have a range of up to 300 miles, or around 480 km.

In the Maryland county of Montgomery, an initiative for the electric conversion of buses has been launched, marking the largest single electric school bus procurement in the USA so far. Additionally, Los Angeles has ordered 10 Lion electric school buses and California has begun installing charging stations at their schools.

Van Hool to deliver 6 electric trolleybuses to Italy

Belgian bus manufacturer Van Hool will deliver six 18-metre electric buses to the transport authority of the Italian city of Pescara from mid-2022, while three more could follow. The buses also feature technology from a German supplier.

Moscow’s bus fleet is to be completely converted to purely electric buses by 2030. Mosgortrans, the operator of the bus and tram network in the Russian capital, says that the fleet is to be expanded to more than 2,000 electric buses.
