Guangdong to electrify bus fleet
The southern Chinese province of Guangdong has decided to entirely bank on electric buses: A new legal guideline by the regional government stipulates that all buses in the cities Guangzhou and Zhuhai will have to be replaced by electric buses by the end of this year.
Brussels orders 90 hybrid buses from Volvo
Volvo has received an order from the Belgian capital to deliver 90 hybrid buses, with most due to arrive this year. Brussels has recently raised the fine dust alarm and is increasingly cleaning its act through actions such as this.
Brussels to tackle air pollution
The Belgian capital has passed a law which will make public transport and the bike sharing programme free on high pollution days. The law will also cut speed limits. Temporary ICE bans are also possible.
Free public transport for all in Germany – reactions
The new German government is thinking to make public transport in cities free of charge for everybody in an attempt to clear the air with Brussels. The EU Commission threatens to file a lawsuit against Germany after cities continue to fail to stay within emission limits.
Volvo to deliver 12 hybrid bendy buses to Poland
Volvo has received an order for 12 articulated hybrid buses to the Municipal Transport Company (MPK) in Cracow. In total, the Sweded have now sold more than 50 hybrid buses in Poland. The vehicles are produced in the Volvo’s factory in Wroclaw.
Vienna is banking on E-Buses by Rampini
The Italian manufacturer Rampini has been tasked with producing seven electrical Buses for the Austrian public transportation network. The 12-meter buses are planned to be in use by the end of 2018 and will be used on the 4A Line.
