Milan to receive up to 250 electric Solaris buses

The Milan public transport company ATM has selected Solaris as a supplier of up to 250 electric buses. The framework agreement with ATM Milano is one of the largest orders for Solaris to date – and the largest order for electric buses in Europe.

Italy: Kiepe to supply tech for 38 electric buses

The German supplier Kiepe Electric is supplying key components for new Solaris electric buses for use in the Italian cities of Milan and Modena. Milan’s public transport operator ATM has ordered 30 Solaris buses with electrical equipment from Düsseldorf.

Solaris to install new battery in the Urbino 18

The Polish electric bus manufacturer Solaris will be presenting a battery update for the Urbino 18 at Busworld Europe in October this year. The battery is from a different (unnamed) supplier and will have an increased capacity of up to 550 kWh.

Berlin public transport BVG orders 90 Solaris e-buses

The state of Berlin and public transit operator BVG are pushing ahead with the ramp-up phase for the procurement of electric buses and are purchasing a further 90 EVs. Polish manufacturer Solaris secured the contract and will deliver from spring 2020.

Italy: Bolzano orders 12 Solaris FC buses

The Italian city of Bolzano was the first to purchase the Urbino 12 hydrogen H2 bus from Solaris. The fuel cell buses follow the battery electric buses delivered last year. Solaris has also sold further battery-powered buses in Norway.

The Spanish rail vehicle manufacturer Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles (CAF) has completed their takeover of the Polish electric bus manufacturer Solaris Bus & Coach. On the 4th of September, CAF received all shares from Solaris. The Polish government will receive 35% ownership, which was negotiated beforehand.

In the next four years, up to 50 Trollino 18 electric buses by the Polish manufacturer Solaris will be rolling onto the roads of the Romanian city Cluj-Napoca. These will be the first Solaris bendy buses with overhead wiring in the nation.

Busmaker Solaris of Poland is planning to launch a whole new hybrid bus at the TRANSEXPO in Kielce this October. The Solaris Urbino 12 LE lite hybrid is said to consume less than 30 litres of fuel per 100 km. The bus weighs under nine tons before taking up to 85 passengers.

Following a lengthy tender process, Berlin transport provider BVG has made its decision. The board approved the acquisition of 30 electric buses that are to arrive next year. Details on the manufacturer have not been disclosed but Daimler is a good guess although Solaris may be an option too.

The Polish city of Gdynia has signed an agreement with Solaris for the delivery of 30 trolleybuses, valued at 28 million dollars. The order includes 14 Trollino 12 buses with 58 kWh batteries and 16 articulated Trollino 18 buses with 87 kWh batteries.

Solaris to provide 16 hybrid buses for Stettin

The Polish city of Stettin has placed an order with Solaris for 16 new hybrid buses. The Solaris Urbino series hybrid buses will come in two different size variety, at 12m and an articulated 18m version, running on a 120 kW and 200 kW traction motor, respectively.
