Canadian EV designer and manufacturer Electra Meccanica held a commissioning ceremony for its nearly-completed manufacturing facility in Mesa, Arizona in the USA. The company says its new plant represents a major step and will serve as the company’s new headquarters.

Electra Meccanica launches first deliveries of the ‘Solo’

Canadian company Electra Meccanica has commenced the first commercial deliveries of its single-seat Solo electric vehicle as part of an unveiling event held in Los Angeles, California on 4 October. Electra Meccanica will continue to ramp production with investor and manufacturing partner Zongshen Industrial Group.

Electra Meccanica starts Solo production in China

Better late than never – it is hard to put it any other way with this electric trike called Solo from the Canadian company Electra Meccanica. While first reports date back to 2016 and again 2018 when deliveries were set to start, it took until today for production to take off.

Tiny trike hits US as Electra Meccanica delivers Solo

Canadian startup Electra Meccanica has made its Solo, a three-wheeled tiny electric car. The first few LEVs have been delivered in the States and will be the first of many as Electra Meccanica convinced investors to produce no less than 75,000 units.

e.GO Moove, VW, Nissan, Lion E-Mobility, Daimler, Solo.

e.GO-Moover-300x150Autonomous e-shuttle by ZF & e.GO: RWTH Aachen’s e.Go Mobile does it again and this time got ZF on board to bring its latest electric vehicle closer to market. They will set up e.GO Moove as a joint venture to develop and produce autonomous electric vans to transport both cargo and people. A first prototype has been unveiled on campus, where it is in good company – e.Go Mobile has recently presented its electric car e.Go Life supported by Bosch and once came up with the StreetScooter that Deutsche Post DHL took on to commercialise. With ZF and its subsidiary NDivia joining the team, expect e.Go Moove to move on to production and sales soon. The JV will be located in Aachen.

VW must offer 3 EV models in California by 2019, upon request by CARB after diesel gate. The Golden State wants to see an electric crossover and one other model joining the e-Golf. On top, VW must sell at least 35,000 EVs until 2025, all whilst paying its 66m dollar fee to California.

Leaf to launch in September: Nissan’s new take on the Leaf will be revealed on September, 6th in Tokyo, said Nissan’s chief for North Europe Pierril Pouret. Details have not been provided but more range and autonomy were promised and a tiny teaser picture published.

Skating the last mile: Lion E-Mobility believes an electric skateboard worth a quarter million dollars as it invests in Inboard Technology. The Californian start-up developed its own mini hub motors and a swappable battery that goes into the deck of a skateboard, the M1. Lion hopes to utilise the technology for various last mile mobility devices and will work with the skaters on power pack and sales.

Daimler batteries destined for USA: Viviant has been appointed Daimler’s partner to bring its home energy storage system to the States. Powerwalls made in Germany shall be offered together with Viviant’s own PV solutions, first in California. The move will sure stir Tesla and its SolarCity.

The Solo trike will hit the stores within weeks as Electra Meccanica is only awaiting road approval in Canada and the States. The light weight electric trike is priced at 19,888 Canadian dollars and has been pre-ordered around 500 times. For early 2019, Electra Meccanica announced its electric roadster Tofino.
