Canadian company Electra Meccanica has commenced the first commercial deliveries of its single-seat Solo electric vehicle as part of an unveiling event held in Los Angeles, California on 4 October. Electra Meccanica will continue to ramp production with investor and manufacturing partner Zongshen Industrial Group.

In addition to the delivery launch, Electra Meccanica remains on track to complete its new US Assembly and Engineering Technical Center in Mesa, Arizona in the Summer of 2022, which is planned to be able to produce up to 20,000 vehicles per year. The Solo BEV is currently still manufactured in China, where production launched in August last year. Interestingly enough, the vehicles manufactured in China are all destined for the North American market, with the first targeted markets being Southern California, Scottsdale, Arizona and Portland, Oregon.

TAin McKendrick, Founder and CEO of Faction Technology said: “Faction is focused on enabling driverless electric vehicles that are right-sized for delivery and ride-on-demand. We’re excited to add Solo to our development fleet and look forward to collaborating with Electra Meccanica to evolve the future of urban mobility.” said
