The sale of 410,000 e-bikes has saved the German bicycle market in 2013. While regular bike sales saw a drop of 5.5% down to 3.75m units, pedelecs continued to grow (+7.9%). With a record marketshare of 11%, pedal-assisted bicycles have become the third largest segment in Germany.
