Philippines drops import duties for electric vehicles

In order to boost demand for electric vehicles in the face of high fuel costs, the Philippines has abolished import duties on electric vehicles. The scheme will apply not only to cars, but also buses, delivery scales, trucks, motorbikes and e-bikes.

Redwood launches recycling cooperation with Lyft

Recycling startup Redwood Materials, founded by former Tesla CTO JB Straubel, has entered into another collaboration. US ride broker and sharing provider Lyft will work with Redwood Materials to recycle end-of-life batteries from its e-bike and electric scooter-sharing fleets.

ESB launches e-bike sharing pilot in Dublin

Irish energy supplier ESB has launched an e-bike pilot project in Dublin called ESB eBikes. The trial will run for ten months and includes 112 bikes with 14 charging stations in some of Dublin’s busiest commuter locations. ESB also won experienced partners.

Continental & Varta to develop 48-volt battery for bikes

Continental’s development and production service provider Continental Engineering Services (CES) is cooperating with the battery specialist Varta. In an initial pilot project, both partners have developed a replaceable 48-volt battery pack for electric two-wheelers with a drive power of 10 kW or more.
