Lighter plug-ins: ArcelorMittal will presents its latest project, the ‘PHEV S-in motion’ in Aachen, Germany, next week. The steel and mining company is working on lighter steel for cars and will now introduce its solutions, said to come at no extra costs, to carmakers with plug-in hybrids.
Re-styled Leaf: As part of a team-building exercise, engineers at Nissan’s Technical Centre converted a Leaf into a bright red pick up. So far, the utility Leaf is only meant to serve on the grounds of the centre with no plans to actually build more than one – yet?!
Meet Stella: The Technical University Delft is currently showing its solar car Stella at the National Drive Electric Event in the States. The lightweight four-seater can produce more energy than it needs to drive, has a 500-mile range and a top speed of 75 mph.
CPT goes west: British Controlled Power Technologies (CPT) now has an U.S. subsidiary. CPT develops solutions for low cost electrification of conventional and hybrid vehicles and has only recently shown its 48-V development at LCV2014 (we reported).
