Mellowcaps will mainly target African countries, but apparently also some U.S. cities have already shown interest.

BYD showcases hybrid rally cars: The Chinese carmaker has brought eight hybrid vehicles based on the Qin to the final race of the APRC China Rally. BYD hopes through this platform to “enhance the brand´s glamour meanwhile make more and more people know and like BYD”.

Electric take-off: Faradair Aerospace has developed a hybrid plane called BEHA (bio-diesel electric aircraft) that seats six and takes off and lands electrically. A diesel engine is used to charge the batteries. Money for production is being raised via crowdfunding and a first prototype should be ready in 2016.

New SIC diodes: ST Microelectronics from Switzerland introduced new silicon carbide (SiC) diodes for on-board battery chargers (OBCs). According to the manufacturer, these provide 2.5 times greater over-current capability versus rated current and feature increased reverse-breakdown voltage of 650V.
