Highlands to be charged up: The project Action Highland Highway wants to install a network of rapid electric charging points in the Scottish Highlands. The project has received phase one funding through the Scottish Government’s Local Energy Challenge Fund and is in the first phase of a feasibility study.

Hybrid fleet for U.S. Army? Oshkosh Defense has received a 6.7bn dollar contract from the U.S. Army to deliver some 17,000 new light trucks to replace the military’s aging Humvees. The new Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTV) can be outfitted with a diesel-electric hybrid system. It is still unclear, however, how many of the vehicles will actually be hybridised.
