Chinese EV brand Byton opens headquarters in California

Future Mobility’s EV brand Byton is now present in the United States, as planned. The Chinese start-up’s new American office is situated in Santa Clara, California. Moreover, the company entered into partnerships with Bosch and Faurencia.

Future Mobility is backed by Foxconn as well as Tencent and led by former BMW i manager Carsten Breitfeld. Its target markets are Europe as well as North America and its first model, an all-electric mid-size SUV, shall debut at CES in Las Vegas in January. All in all, three models are supposed to hit the roads until 2022. Approximately 300 employees shall work in the new site in California by 2018. Allegedly, Byton managed to recruit also experts from Tesla and Apple.

With Bosch and Faurecia, first suppliers have been nominated. While Bosch shall contribute drive solutions and braking systems, Faurencia is responsible for optimising the interior design.
