Italian XEV to 3D-print low-speed electric vehicles for China

X Electrical Vehicle (XEV) from Italy is working on low-speed electric vehicles (LSEV) for the Chinese market. The startup wants to start 3D-printing the tiny electric cars asap and aims for market entry in China in the second half of 2019.

The LSEV as been designed so that all parts apart from chassis, seats and windows can be printed with a 3D-printer, meaning all plastic parts. XEV says the extra small EVs weigh no more than 450 kilos and that its wants to start the “presses” within this year.

Indeed there is one on display at Shanghai’s China 3D-printing Cultural Museum, a month ahead of the Auto China 2018 in Beijing. According to Guo Xiaozheng, a designer from XEV, they have received 7,000 reservations already.
