Tesla launches Model Y programme in China

As part of the Model 3 delivery launch for regular customers in China, Tesla has now also officially launched the Model Y program. It is not yet clear when the Model Y will be produced in China, but Tesla has already announced prices and is accepting pre-orders.

Tesla launches Shanghai Model 3 deliveries

Tesla has started deliveries of the first Model 3s produced in the Shanghai plant to customers. The first 15 vehicles were handed over to Tesla employees during a special event. According to a Reuters report, regular customers will also receive their vehicles from 7 January onwards.

Tesla must yet again cope with the departure of a manager. Bert Bruggeman was only appointed Vice-President of Production at Fremont plant one year ago and has now thrown in the towel. Given his unexpected departure, a successor has not yet been announced.

Tesla founds subsidiary for Gigafactory 4

Tesla has founded a European public limited company called Tesla Manufacturing Brandenburg SE for the operations of its planned plant in Grünheide, Brandenburg. Meanwhile, in China, rumour has it that Tesla already produces 1,000 Model 3s per week at its plant in Shanghai.

Tesla builds up charging and service networks in China

Tesla intends to increase the number of its service centres in China from 29 to 63 and the number of its fast-charging stations by 39 per cent to 362 units.  The Californian company has also increased the charging capacity of Model 3 with the latest software update.

Tesla takes aim for 100,000 Q3 deliveries

Tesla could deliver more than 100,000 electric cars for the first time this quarter. This was indicated by Elon Musk in an e-mail to employees. It has also been announced that production of the Model 3 will start at the Tesla plant in Shanghai on October 14.

Nio starts series production of second ES6 model

The Chinese electric car startup Nio has started series production of its second ES6 model. Both series, the ES6 and the ES8, are currently manufactured at the Nio-JAC plant in Hefei. After Nio’s plans for a factory in Shanghai were abandoned, plans are now being made for a factory in Beijing.

China: Tesla’s Model 3 factory ready for orders

Tesla has opened the order books in China for the Model 3, which the EV manufacturer will produce in its Shanghai plant, which is still under construction. The first deliveries of the Model 3 from local production are scheduled to start in six to ten months.

Leaked documents lay out Tesla Model Y production data

Tesla appears to operate on an aggressive timeline for producing the Model Y, internal documents leaked to Business Insider show. Tesla sent said documents to engineers ahead of the Q3 earnings call in October and so a Tesla spokesperson called these to be “outdated” by now. Still they reveal ambition.
