A major Thai vehicle distributor has turned to China’s BYD to deliver a total of a thousand electric cabs to Thailand. The first 100 EVs are scheduled to arrive this year and are said to have a range of 350 km.

Nothing has been said about the type of car, however it will most likely be a fleet of BYD e6. The model is serving in other taxi fleets around the world already, say in Ecuador or for Uber in Singapore.

The deal in Thailand saw Risen Energy sign a deal with a local taxi operator. Risen Energy is a Chinese maker of solar modules that is apparently branching out into related fields.

The first 100 BYD electric cars will hit the streets this year.
