The Indian city of Pune has ordered 500 electric buses due to arrive over the next 6 months. Local transport provider PMPML changed the order last minute, scrapping its initial plan to acquire 800 diesel buses after mounting political pressure.

The electric buses will be acquired under the gross capital cost (GCC) model, which greatly reduces the financial burden on PMPML, officials said. The first batch is expected in June and July and Pune wants to have all 500 EVs running within half a year.
