Webasto & A123 building batteries for large EVs
Supplier Webasto has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Wanxiang A123 of China to set up a dedicated battery system facility for electric trucks and buses in China. The partners build on tried and tested NCM cells of A123.
The first step of the new venture is to integrate the battery module into Webasto’s standard system for commercial vehicles. These shall then hit the Chinese market as quickly as possible.
Webasto is applying the same strategy in Europe, only with battery modules from Samsung SDI. These will also be integrated into electric trucks and buses. Webasto praises the flexibility of their battery system due to its modular design.
