The Swedish vehicle manufacturers have introduced a new electric articulated bus, available in two different lengths, and capable of delivering up to 150 passengers at once. The Volvo 7900 Electric Articulated is to be officially unveiled in October.

While we still have to wait for the official presentation, a few details regarding the new articulated bus have already been announced: It will be available in a size of either 18 meters or 18.7 meters. The batteries that will be used will be capable of fast charging with CCS, and are designed to be charged at the end of the route of overnight.

Volvo also added that the vehicles feature “higher capacity, less noise and better air quality” at the presentation at the UITP Global Transport Summit in Stockholm, although it is unclear whether the better air quality also refers to their other electric buses, or just buses in general.

Håkan Agnevall, president of Volvo Buses, added: “With silent, zero emission electric buses equipped with advanced safety systems, we can assist cities in solving the problems with emissions, noise, congestion and traffic accidents to become what we call Zero Cities.”
