Tesla marks new safety records
According to a study published by the Highway Loss Data Institute, Tesla Model S and Model Y vehicles are almost 90% less likely to be stolen than the average car in the USA.
Institute vice president Matt Moore explained that vehicle theft was a matter of opportunity and market value. While the market value of a new Tesla is certainly up there, the opportunity factor is a bit more difficult than with an internal combustion engine due to all the software.”Vehicle theft is a crime of opportunity, and electric cars parked in locked garages where they are recharging certainly makes it harder for a thief.”
The “winner” as America’s most stolen car was the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.
