VW ID.4 sells out overnight in the USA

The interest in the new VW ID.4 seems to be particularly large in the USA – so large that when reservations opened the server was overloaded for some time.

So expectations are high for a Volkswagen electric car that has been seen as a contender to the Model 3. While the US plant in Chattanooga is currently just being expanded for MEB manufacturing, production of the ID.4 is not scheduled to start until 2022.

It is unclear whether Volkswagen will export some ID.4 from Zwickau or China to the USA before production starts in Chattanooga. It has become apparent though, that they are preparng the grounds already. A recent announcement by Electrify America talks about “2021 ID.4” and offers prospective buyers three years of free charging.

So, it is safe to assume, the next load of the Volkwagen electric SUVs are expected from mid-2021. VW says they will be available in the US at prices starting at 39,995 dollars.

In Germany, the ID.4 Pro and ID.4 Pro Performance are already available to order due to environmental bonus ramifications. However, production for these variants has not started yet in Zwickau.
