Delaware extends Clean Vehicle Rebate Program
In the USA, the state of Delaware has announced that the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control is extending the Clean Vehicle Rebate Program through the end of the year, providing rebates for drivers switching to electric vehicles.

The programme has been going on since July 2015 and has issued almost 2,500 rebates since the programme began. The current program was set to expire on June 30. In the new programme, rebates for the purchase or lease of electric vehicles will include $2,500 for battery electric vehicles, including vehicles with range extenders, with a total vehicle price of $60,000 or less and $1,000 for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles with a total vehicle price of $60,000 or less.
Delaware’s programme also includes provisions for charging infrastructure, as the ‘Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Rebate Program’ pays up to 90 per cent of the cost of the charging station, with a max amount of $3,500 per port/$7,000 per station for public properties, fleets and multi-unit dwellings.

Citizens of the US state of Delaware purchasing new electric vehicles will continue to get state rebates on qualifying makes and models, as the state has extended the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control’s Clean Vehicle Rebate Program. The newly updated programme extension runs through April 30, 2024.
The programme was not only extended but also amended to better serve residents: A new application portal was introduced to make it easier for car shoppers to redeem the rebate at the dealership or up to 90 days after their purchase, as well as new price limits which were based on the MSRP, rather than the total price, “to ensure additions like trailer hitches won’t affect rebate eligibility”.
Currently, a total of over 30 battery-electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids are on the eligibility list for rebates, and are rebated by $2,500 for BEVs with an MSRP of $50,000 or less, while PHEVs are discounted with $1,000 with the same base MSRP conditions.
“Electric vehicles continue to grow in popularity, with many manufacturers committing to transition their fleets to zero emission vehicles,” said DNREC Secretary Shawn M. Garvin. “Additionally, electric vehicle adoption is a key strategy for reducing air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions in our state, our country and the world.”
