To pre-book the electric transporter van, UK-based customers can place a £2,000 fee with their dealer until 30 June to secure a priority slot to specify their ID.Buzz. The pre-order is available on the five-seater ID.Buzz model, but not the Cargo variant.

The ID.Buzz will launch with a 1st edition model, which will cost £62,995 inc VAT (€73,921). The rest of the range starts at £57,115 (€67,021) for the Life and £61,915 (€72,647) for the Style trim. This means that pricing at current exchange values is slightly above the EU listing, where VW opened the order books on 20 May as reported. Prices there start at €64,581.

The world premiere of the ID. Buzz took place back in March when VW revealed the technical data for the renewed electric iconic camper van: the 4.71-meter-long electric van will come with a 77-kWh battery at market launch (gross energy content: 82 kWh) for both the five-seater and cargo versions. The electric motor on the rear axle – a PSM, as in the other MEB models – produces the familiar 150 kW, which will take the ID. Buzz to a top speed of up to 90 mph (145 km/h). At the time, the range had not been finally set, however, that stands at a WLTP rating of 258 miles (415 km) today.

Charging for the electric van takes about 30 minutes for going from a 5% to an 80% charge and includes “the latest in connectivity”, such as Car2X technology. An 11 kW AC charger is also included ex-works. VW gives an energy consumption value of 20.6 kWh/100 km for the passenger car version. The cargo version, which will follow later, is 20.4 kWh/100 km.

The ID. Buzz is Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ first all-electric vehicle. Based on the Modular Electric Drive Kit (MEB) platform, the ID.Buzz has been built from the ground up with electrification in mind.

Update 14 July 2022

UK customers can now place orders for the all-electric Volkswagen ID. Buzz. The ID. Buzz is launching with three trim levels in the UK: Life, Style, and a 1st Edition. The entry-level Life starts at £57,115, Style is priced from £61,915 and the range-topping 1st Edition costs £62,995.

Wonderful news… I pre-ordered in May but not a single update from VW on delivery dates. Although recently they said orders made now [October] can expect a delivery in April 2023. Yet not capable of giving a delivery for pre-orders? Something not quite right with the marketing and communication machine.
