Twaice partners with Sycada for fleets’ batteries

The German battery analytics software provider Twaice has partnered with Sycada, a Dutch telematics and fleet management company. Twaice will complement Sycada’s solutions with detailed insights into battery health.

Sycada operates an online platform designed to provide planners, traffic managers, operators and drivers in the transport sector with accurate information for the optimal operational running of their fleets and charging infrastructure.

The global demand for intelligent solutions to provide information on battery status is increasing. This is also shown by the numerous cooperations in the field. A a result of this Dutch-German partnership, the battery health module of the analysis software provider will be integrated into the Sycada platform.

“The battery health information provided by their software is exactly what we want to offer our customers. Twaice’s sound practical results tipped the scales against more purely research-based offerings,” says Sycada CEO Kristian Winge. Jonas Boehm, Manager of Strategic Partnerships at Twaice, adds: “We know that battery analytics is the way forward, as only deep data and software can provide the transparency needed to look inside the battery and optimise its future performance.”

Optimised battery performance analysis is not extremely useful in fleet operations, but also for the second life of used batteries. Once batteries from electric trucks, buses, vans or cars start to be less than optimum for speed and range, these can be sold on for applications such as stationary storage or slower electric vehicles such as mopeds. In China, this part of the cycle is prioritised in a so-called cadence of second-life uses according to most urgent need.

Most recently, the German battery analytics company Twaice announced in April that it had secured an additional $30 million in Series B funding from investor Coatue and existing investors. The Munich-based company intends to use the money to further develop its platform and open new locations.
